It was our glacier tour guide who recommended what ended up being our favourite campground in Skaftafell. It was about 45 minutes away from the Diamond Beach back in the direction of Reykjavik. We set up there for the night and stuck around in the morning, because there were hiking trails. And wow were there ever hiking trails! We were able to get almost right to the edge of the glacier. Kai got further then we did but got stopped by quicksand. But really we were about 30 feet from being able to actually touch the glacier.
After our morning of hiking, we heading to Vik to see a lava show. Here is some pretty scenery from along the way…
